Notes for Speakers

For a PDF of the following information to download and print see here

Please have your presentation ready on a USB stick or loaded onto your laptop.

If your presentation is loaded onto a USB memory stick, please note the following:

  • Your presentation will be run directly from your USB memory stick so there is no need to conduct a test run prior to use.
  • Please give your USB memory stick to Mike Barrett at the ILAS registration desk as you register.
  • Your USB memory stick will be labelled and some time after your presentation will be available for collection from the registration desk; if necessary we will post it back to you.

If your presentation is to be run from your laptop, please note the following:

  • Please make staff at the registration desk aware that you are intending to use your own laptop as soon as possible.
  • Please see the Session Helper, who will be in the seminar room during the preceding break period, who will assist you. Allow plenty of time to get your laptop ready and in place.
  • Please be in the seminar room at least 5 minutes before the start of the session, to introduce yourself to the Session Chair, if only to confirm how you wish yourself to be introduced.
  • If you have not already provided a PDF of your presentation (or key slides), please do so at the registration desk after your talk.

All presenters:

  • Please wear the clip-on mic so that everybody can hear you. The Session Helper will assist you with this.
  • The Session Helper will get your presentation up on the screen, ready for you to start.
  • Use the computer keys ↑ and ↓ to step the slides.
  • A laser pointer will be provided for you to use (please return it to the Session Helper at the end of your presentation).
  • Please ensure that you finish ON TIME. The Session Chair will show you a YELLOW card indicating you have 2 minutes left (5 minutes for keynote presenters); a RED card indicates that you should finish immediately.
