Tour of The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) on your way to ILAS

The MTC represents one of the largest public sector investments in manufacturing for many years and is housed in a 12,000 square metre purpose built facility at Ansty Park, Coventry. 

How to register for the tour:


  • IMPORTANT - send your name and affiliation to us by Monday 9th March to register
  • Ensure you have received confirmation
  • Report to the MTC reception at 14:45
  • The tour begins at 15:00 and lasts about 1.5 hours (refreshments provided)
During the tour you will experience:
  • Some of the most accurate measurement machines in the UK in the metrology lab
  • Additive layer manufacturing capability (the biggest ALM machines in the world are located at MTC) and Hot Isostatic Pressing (see and feel some of the parts made through both these processes)
  • A £3m+ electronics manufacturing line that can produce PCBs without any manual intervention
  • One of the world's largest laser processing cells that can demonstrate welding, cutting and cladding of varying materials and thickness
  • The world's only tri-mode rotary friction welders which are so accurate they can stop a weld rotation between +/- 0.5 degrees
  • Parallel Kinematics Machine (1 of only 8 that are in mainland Europe) to demonstrate high accurate machining and drilling
  • The Virtual Reality CAVE to demonstrate the ability to simulate individual manufacturing processes and full plant layouts, as well as CFD modelling, DES modelling, etc
